All in all it seems that lawyers across the nation should be thankful to Anna Nicole Smith for keeping them in court cases for years to come, whether they happen to be New Jersey injury lawyers or Orlando wills attorneys.
“The Killing of Anna Nicole Smith“, released by Transit Publishing, hit bookstores last week. The provocatively titled book was written by Florida Judge Larry Seidlin who presided in the 2007 caseĀ featured hereĀ that decided where Smith’s remains would be buried. In the book Seidlin takes issue with celebrity prescription drug use and the culture of “enablers” that allow such abuse to occur. He feels that Smith, much like Michael Jackson and Heath Ledger, was”murdered” by hangers-on such as doctors who stood to profit from her addictions.
It is fitting that a book about Anna Nicole Smith would be written by a Judge as both her life and death involved multiple legal battles. The fight for her late husband’s estate was still not resolved at the time of her death. The dispute between Smith and her stepson was played out in both California, Florida and the Supreme Court and went on for over ten years. Then after Anna Nicole’s death there was the question of paternity and guardianship for her daughter as well as the decision regarding who would inherit the money from Anna Nicole once it was decided exactly what she had inherited. This is not to mention the deceptive business practice charges filed against TrimSpa, the New Jersey weight loss company for which Smith was the spokesperson.
