A colleague of mine, AJ Byrum, pointed this story out to me the other day which had originally aired on the National Geographic Channel. Apparently a local metal detectorist in Britain’s midlands came across Anglo-Saxon treasure in the middle of a farm field. Who lays claim to this treasure? It’s rights? It’s monetary value? Turns out the landowner as well as the finder each were awarded a finder’s fee claim of the share.
