Several states have endorsed higher minimum wages while they have also extended their laws that even workers who are not covered by FLSA or are not recognized by federal law are included. Additionally, local governments have also coined various living wage laws that compel their contractors to giver higher minimum wages and benefits to their employees.

In order to understand the concept of insurance, one may think of it as a pooling resource to compensate for the possible loss one of the parties who contribute to that pool may suffer as a result of some contingent event. Johnnie Cochran defends Chewbacca on Southpark

In another stunning episode of the South Park cartoon on comedy central, the writers managed to produce a skit involving legal legend, Johnnie Cochran. Attorney Cochran is attempting to defend Chewbacca through similar methods used in his OJ Simpson trials. Short Bowel Syndrome

Short bowel syndrome (SBS) is a disorder that results from the surgical removal of the small intestine leading to a nutrient absorption disorder. Although, in some rare cases this disorder may be the result of a functional issue involving a large section of the bowel. Some people are born with a congenial short bowel defect – but most times, it’s an acquired condition. For this condition to become apparent, usually more than 2/3 of the small intestine needs to be lost.

Symptoms of short bowel syndrome can include weight loss from malnutrition, fatigue, abdominal pain, diarrhea and fluid retention.

Complications resulting from short bowel syndrome are directly related to the patient’s inability to absorb vitamins and other nutrients which will lead to deficiencies in vitamins A, D, E, K, B12, magnesium, calcium, zinc, iron and folic acid. Employee secures benefits despite false Social Security numbers

According to West Palm Beach workers compensation lawyer, a Florida judge of compensation claims held that the employer did not establish a fraud defense and that the employee was entitled to permanent total disability benefits.

What it means: An employee is not barred from receiving workers’ compensation benefits where evidence establishes that the employee provided false Social Security numbers to secure employment, not to obtain benefits.

Summary: The employee filed a petition for benefits for injuries sustained in a work accident. He testified he provided two false Social Security numbers to obtain employment. The first number did not match his name, and he then “made up” a second Social Security number. Pirate Bay torrent links now featured on Facebook

The world’s most famous search engine for audio and video on the Web has added a feature that links it to the popular social networking site Facebook.

The Pirate Bay site has been enhanced to allow users to share torrents Facebook accounts, which are small information files that allow the downloading of content via the BitTorrent P-to-P (peer-to-peer) file sharing network.

Some intellectual property attorneys should be monitoring this closely as there may be many legal issues involved here.

San Bernardino California DUI Legal Case

In the County of San Bernardino Superior Court on Thursday, Jose Luis Palacios Jr., 20, has pleaded not guilty to three serious offenses in connection with the fatal accident.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 6.

According to a DUI law firm in San Bernardino CA, Palacios is accused of manslaughter gross vehicle while intoxicated, DUI causing injury and driving with a 0.08 percent level of blood alcohol causing injury, according to the complaint filed in court .
